Renewing Library Materials Online

Yes! You can renew the materials you have checked out online! This page will tell you how.

But first, you need to understand some basics:

  • You CANNOT renew any item once it is OVERDUE. You CAN renew on the date it is due, but not after that date.
  • You can renew an item TWO TIMES online. If you want to renew a third time, you must bring the item physically to the library's Circulation Desk.
  • Remember that renewing a book online will extend the due date. The due date stamped in your book, however, will still show the earlier date. Make sure you record the new due date when you renew online. Write the date on a slip of paper and insert it in the book--that way, you won't end up with a late fee later on.

HERE'S HOW to Renew Materials Online:

Renewing materials online is easy. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to PILOT: The Library Catalog
NOTE: This link will open PILOT in a new window. You can then switch back and forth between PILOT and these instructions.
  2. Click on the Account Info link in the row of menu items
  3. Type in your CalCard number and your last name. Click on Login.
  4. You will see a list of Items Checked Out.
  5. Click the box in the Renew? column next to the item(s) you want to renew, then click the Renew Items button.
  6. Click on the Logout button on the tool-bar (failure to do so would allow others to view your patron information).

That's it! The due date will change--so don't forget to record it.
